About
Hello, I am Roger Gilbert, a hypnotherapist based in Leeds, and whether you are following up a recommendation from a friend or colleague or have found this page by searching the internet, you probably want to know more about me and my experience as a hypnotherapist – and, more importantly, if and how I can help you.
Hypnotherapy is a convenient umbrella term for the approaches I use. However, I am constantly expanding my knowledge and skills and I am trained in and use Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), mBit coaching, and Havening TechniquesⓇ. You can find a list of memberships and certifications below and find more about each of these approaches on the Techniques pages.
Since 1993, I have helped people from all walks and stages of life – from teenagers to pensioners – with all kinds of problems. People tend to associate hypnotherapy with stopping smoking, but smoking cessation has been a small part of the work I do.The greater part has been helping clients develop confidence and overcome negative emotions like phobias and anxiety, helping with stress management and insomnia, and helping people set goals and achieve them – like passing exams or passing a driving test. From 1993 to 2000 I was a volunteer student counsellor with Leeds Metropolitan University and from 2000 to 2014 I was a volunteer clinical hypnotherapist with the National Phobics Society (now Anxiety UK).

At the same time, for many years I was also a solicitor specialising in acting for solicitors, accountants, surveyors and other professionals – so I have a good understanding of the challenges and stresses which business owners and professionals can face. My hypnotherapy clients have included many highly qualified professionals like doctors, solicitors, accountants, surveyors and architects.
I am also an experienced mediator – helping people resolve disputes in business, the workplace and the community. If you would like to know more about my mediation services, please see my separate website practical mediation.co.uk
Whilst I see people in person in Leeds when appropriate (and subject to covid 19 precautions), I help people all over the UK via video link (Zoom, Skype, FaceTime or Whereby) – and it works very well.
A graduate of Cambridge University (Sidney Sussex College), I helped set up our local Parish Council and served on the council for three years. I have chaired a local conservation group since 2009 and am a keen ukulele player.
If you would like to know what other people think about working with me, please have a look at my Testimonials page.
